Although this blog is not formally affiliated with any organization or government entity (as per the above disclaimer), there is a lot of community support that has made this blog possible. A special thanks goes to the staff and volunteers at IFC, OPC, the Chrysalis Foundation, Club Nova, Triangle United Way, the University of North Carolina and all of the congregations and other members of the community who have given so much support to the Initiative to End Homelessness.
I'd like to give a special personal thanks to Chris Moran, Kristin Lavergne, and Scott Hamer of the IFC for their information, help, advice, and support; to the Reverend Robert Seymour for his lifelong dedication to serving those in our community who have no voice that should serve as an inspiration to us all; and to Billie Guthrie and Judith Romanowski of the OPC for the opportunity to be involved in this issue. Also, a special thanks to Maggie Silton for her friendship, support, encouragement, and willingness to listen and advise at every step of this effort.
Local government agencies including the Orange County Board of Commissioners, Chapel Hill Town Councl, Chapel Hill Police Department, and the Carrboro Board Of Aldermen have also been tremendously supportive of efforts to combat poverty and homelessness and for that they should have the sincere thanks of everyone in the community.

Finding a home for the homeless
Well this is refreshing. Pastor David Hood of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church has presented a petition to the Town Council which supports relocating the men's shelter into his neighborhood. I can't seem to find a copy of this online and the search feature for the Town Council minutes is not working at the moment. Still, this is great news.
